French to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks test of a continuous measurement flow tester

So the document is evaluating the performance of the above-mentioned device, which is a competitor product, and studying its pneumatic circuitry.
It studies its design and performance, giving various measurements in comparison with those of one of its own similar products.

I'm having trouble with the above part of the following sentence:

Peut être que le potentiomètre sert à augmenter la gamme de pression du régulateur électronique pour compenser l’effet du pont diviseur de pression à la sortie du régulateur

I understand what a diviseur de pression does but I don't understand the overall idea, or how the pont relates.
