Il possédait un carburateur " à léchage ". L'essence contenue dans un large récipient s'évaporait et les vapeurs d'essence étaient dirigées par un tuyau vers la chambre de combustion mais avant , ces vapeurs d'essence passaient dans une chambre " mélangeuse " où une arrivée d'air réglable appauvrissait ou enrichissait le mélange gazeux . Ce mélange était introduit dans le cylindre par une soupape d'admission commandée automatiquement par la dépression créée par le piston dans sa phase descendante . Le rappel de la soupape d'admission s'effectuait par un ressort à très faible tirage . Une fois dans le cylindre , le mélange gazeux compressé s'enflammait au contact d'un index de métal porté au rouge par des brûleurs

What is known as a "surface" carburettor is simply a tank as described, but in which arrangement is made for drawing the incoming air either over or through the petrol. The above figure shows about the most simple form of surface carburettor; the diagram is a section of a tank such as might be found on a motor bicycle. It will be seen to be divided by an inner partition; this upper and inner portion provides the petrol storage, the under part being the carburettor proper.
