More specifically it might be a vine stock. But pieds means individual plants.

thanks, John. We certainly call them stocks when it refers to vines, not so sure about other trees.

If this refers to coppicing (as suggested by the fact that "les *pieds* qui produisent actuellement sont très âgés"), the term "coppice stools" is used to denote the stumps from which new shoots grow.
