French term

blocage par col sonique

French to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space inverseur de poussée
Hello,

"Un problème fréquemment observé dans ce type d'inverseur à portes jumelles, est le décollement de la couche limite par rapport à l'extrados: un tel décollement occasionne une zone de turbulences entre la couche limite et l'extrados, pouvant même conduire à un blocage par col sonique du flux."

somehow, this doesn't sound right:
blocking of the flow by sonic throat..

Thank you

sonic throat choking of the flow

when the exit gases passing through a nozzle reach Mach 1 (the speed of sound) the throat of the nozzle becomes choked. It cannot pass any greater amount of gas because pressure information cannot be passed back upstream. (Sound is just the manifestation of a pressure wave). Below Mach 1, the nozzle throat is in a sub-sonic condition.

agree chris collister : Though in EN the "sonic" is generally understood, ie. just "choked flow". Typical French to spell everything out!
