French term

direction d'écoulement

French to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space modulation du débit mass
Hi again,

In my doc., I have "un écoulement de gaz", translated in the abstract as "gas stream", however, further on in the doc, there is mention of "Direction principale d’écoulement", I should normally translate by "main flow direction" or should I stick with "stream" and put "main stream direction"? and in this case can "s'écoulant" be translated by "streaming"?? insteading of flowing?
I apologize in advance if my questions are..daft

Here is one of the sentences including it:
"Utilisation d'un dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications 7 à 14 pour contrôler un écoulement principal (13), l'écoulement principal (13) s'écoulant suivant une direction principale (14) d'écoulement, le dispositif émettant un jet de gaz (18) suivant une direction d'écoulement (9) sécante ou parallèle à la direction principale (14) d'écoulement, le débit massique du jet de gaz (18) étant modulé par le dispositif.

Thank you

efflux course

I suggest the word 'efflux' rather than 'flow' as you are writing about a gas rather then a liquid, but also because trying to translate the part of your sentence " l'écoulement principal (13) s'écoulant suivant une direction principale (14) d'écoulement" is difficult with 'flow'. My suggestion : "The main efflux outflowing (qui s'écoule=outflows) and following a primary efflux course"....

guidance of flow/efflux channelling

'Direction' is 'management' or 'guidance' and not 'direction' (one of the faux amis)
Note from asker:
Hi, in this case it's direction as the image shows the (14) with an arrow..
