Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jun 22, 2003:
dossier I'm not adding 'source.' This figurative thing with 'dossier' is the focus of my question.
RHELLER Jun 22, 2003:
Maureen, please give the entire sentence, thanks

Maureen,

I think \"dossier\" (file) is unnecessary in English. Sometimes we just need to take the expression as a whole and go with the idea rather than the words. IMHO. Of course, you have the entire text and you will be able to make the best selection.

Another possibility might be:
someone who has worked closely on this project
but it\'s not that commonly used

Good luck!

According to an insider.............

According to an informed source.......

I think you already got the idea, Maureen. It's just hard to put it into English words.

a source close to...

Alternative French phrase "une source proche du dossier" (see ref. 1) translates easily as the commonly used
"a source close to..." (see ref. 2)

What follows depends on the context - close to the company, the project, the case etc.
