Concerning an aircraft door

Sounds odd to me. Interlocking doesn't seem right. Any ideas gratefully received!

Discussion

Drmanu49 May 15, 2006:
I don't see why you did not use my definition (outward-opening plug type door). Non-plug type door just doesn't sound right. It is a plug type whether opening outward or inward.
Chris Collins (X) (asker) May 12, 2006:
Exactly my thoughts. It is a fuselage door on an ATR 43 (commuter/short-haul turbo-prop). Pressurised!
Bourth (X) May 12, 2006:
Is this a fuselage door or an internal door? What sort of aircraft? I have difficulty imagining a fuselage door on a high-speed/high-altitude aircraft that would not be "emboîtée".

It looks as if "sans emboîtement" and "ouvrant vers l'extérieur" are mutually redundant since it cannot be "avec emboîtement" and open outwards, unless it is on a submarine!!

Or jsut "non-plug door":

Boeing would not put huge square holes in pressurized hulls and use a non plug door to fill it if they cared about safety. [Et toc!]home.dc.lsoft.com/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind9711& L=flight-800&T=0&P=11834

fit

"running fit" / "sliding fit" / "drive fit" / "thrust fit" / "tongue & groove" ... ?

Peer comment(s):

neutral Kari Foster : I also thought 'fit' would be the right answer, but then how would the sentence read? It would appear to be saying that the door doesn't fit...?!?

I added "sliding" etc. So it would read: "The thrust-fit free passenger door opens outwardly."

Note from asker:
Hi, Your definition sounds to me like the opposite of what I want - "avec" rather than "sans" emboitement. Or am I misunderstanding something?
