I am dutch and we use the word colli for a number of boxes. But what if you have one box.....one colli doesn't seems to be right...

Answer Colli is a English word I thought, we only use that word in our language.

Are you looking for the Dutch singular for colli? If so, you'll need to enter the question under Dutch-Dutch, not English-English.

I don\'t know. What I do know is that it\'s got the same meaning in Italian, and the singular is \"collo\"...

Not in the O.E.D.

I've just looked in the (2-volume) O.E.D. and it's not in there, either as colli or collo.
I have to say, it doesn't remind me of anything either, not in the sense of a "number of boxes"...
However, I'm always prepared to be proved wrong... :-)

Judging from vixen\'s Dutch link, I would imagine that package or parcel or a similar word may be what you\'re looking for.

colli, might not have singular form.

Webster's Dictionary has: collo-see coll
coll or collo (NL, fr. Gk.)

1.glue (collenchyma )
2.colloid (collotype )
It's originally from your native l. so it might not have singular f.
