All of the drums featured Paragon Deus micro-tube lugs, except for the snare drum, which was fitted with full-width tube lugs. The micro-tube lugs are fairly attractive, and they allow lots of the shell to show. But they don't have swivel nuts to receive the tension rods. Extra care must be taken when inserting those rods during head changes, in order to avoid stripping the lugs. Tuning can also be a little tricky, since you must try to ***maintain a straight shot and not misalign things.*** (The same is true with the snare drum's full-width lugs.)
Речь идет о настройке барабанов. Не вполне понятно, что имеется в виду.

I would understand it to mean that you are to tighten the lugs across diagonals (like the wheel nuts when you change a tire) so that you do not tighten one side all the way down and then not be able to tighten the other side without ripping the drum head. You do not want to get the drum head too far from horizontal while tightening.
It is odd English, though, in my opinion.

: Tighten the lugs proportionally at any rate, diagonal or not. Agree that the expression is a little over the top, but refreshing nonetheless.
