Application form
This is on an application form for a traineeship under "Other", right after "Preferred department(s)". I'm not sure what it means. Is it preferred position? Posting doesn't seem to have this meaning.

In a situation where a company, or a public body has many offices all over the country, or all over the world, jobs in deifferent offices are referred to as 'postings' - for example, an overseas posting.

So in this context, a posting is when the employee is sent by their employer to work in a different place. This also applies to the armed forces, of course.
