I am almost sure they use the term as synonymous to graft copolymers. It is a kind of copolymer where the side chains are different than the backbone of the polymer.

In any textbook, the chapter dealing with copolymers mentions graft copolymers as one important type of these materials. You may have to ask the person who wrote it. Good luck! :-)

: Somehow I suspect that the "intrusion" refers to some co-polymer synthesis process, rather than a mechanical process with pores. But I'm not terribly sure :)
