English term

c.

Non-PRO English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Horizontal mergers
The combined entity would become the market leader with a near 50% market share (i.e., c. 47%), while the rest of the market would be divided between two other players (see Table 2 below).

Based on these elements and our analysis of the European Commission's (the "Commission") decisional practice in the cement industry over the 10 last years, during which it reviewed numerous transactions and prohibited or conditionally approved transactions subject to structural remedies, it is likely that the Commission would prohibit the Contemplated Transaction or conditionally approve it subject to significant divestments, on several potential grounds:

first, with a c. 47% combined market share at national level and between c. 53% and c. 99% combined market shares at regional level, a finding of individual dominance is likely on several local markets, which would lead to price increases, limited output and/or capacity (i.e., horizontal unilateral effects);

What does "c." mean here?

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Barbara Carrara, Chris Says Bye, Toni Castano

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Hi,
From the context, it appears that they are not absolutely certain about the percentages. The numbers used are approximate, thus: circa or c.
Hope this helps you in the right direction!

"c." stands for "circa". It's a Latin abbreviation meaning "approximately" or "around".

Circa is Latin for "around" or "about". It is often used to show when something approximately happened. It is often shortened to c., ca., ca or cca.
