Is "share of stock" a "share certificate"?

share of the business

share of stock = ownership of a portion of the business

share certificate = corporate document which says that the person in question is entitled to ownership of X number of shares

These are the definitions in the most simple terms. Hope this helps.

It depends. In the equivalent Danish case, each share certificate (aktiebrev) may hold one or more shares (aktier).
