Having looked into this more in detail, I think that this means (in the context of making therapeutic nanoparticles) - to abruptly cool the emulsion in order to obtain a more stable compound" (according to the Swedish Centre for Terminology TNC "Quenching" can be either "släckning" (as in slaked lime - släckt kalk", "kylning"/"cooling" or "härdning" (as in e.g. "tempered steel" or ("härdat stål" - so the correct term here in SE should probably be "härdning"?
