Obviamente fingering es un modismo ya que una araña no tiene dedos. Se refiera a el uso del tacto y en este caso la araña está sintiendo las ebras de su red que se concentran al rededor de ella para deducir que pasa en el resta de la telaraña.

Ya sé que las arañas no tienen dedos, je je, pero...en fin, el caso es que no sólo siente sino que antes de sentir tiene que tocar o palpar las hebras para notar las vibraciones. Esa sería la acción que tiene como resultado sentirlas.
