En el guión de la película a la que se refiere este texto, quien dice estas palabras es el Lieutenant Weaver, que traduje como "teniente de navío". Aquí parece que la frase la han dejado a medias, ¿qué creéis que dice?

Hola Ana. Pues eso parece. Así figura en los dos glosarios que ha facilitado Mónica. A mí también me confunde lo de lieutenant pero igual el guionista no estuviese del todo familiarizado con la jerga precisa (¿?), tbn por lo de stateroom/ballroom :O) :O)

An honorary title, 'Lieutenant'? I wonder if there is a custom in the hotel industry of giving the maitre an honorary rank/title 'Lieutenant, etc', distinct from military/naval ranks? Would this explain 'Lt. Weaver' in the query text? I do not find references to such a custom.

¿tú crees? Piensa que el guión dice "lieutenant". No sé, a lo mejor tienes razón.
Es un barco grande, pero lo único que se dice es que tiene muchos botes salvavidas, para rescatar a las víctimas de un naufragio.

Hola Ana. Para esta y la otra pregunta, creo que puede influir el tamaño/tipo de barco. Si es un crucero grande, que puede contar con restaurantes, no sería más que el maître - en inglés a menudo "maître d', contracción de maître d'hôtel. :O)
