Often in the course of history God has stirred His people to great work. Men ***have worked longer hours and travelled more miles*** in unceasing labours for the Gospel than worldlings believe possible. Some examples are men like John Wesley, who on horseback visited practically every town in Britain. Or the extraordinary Dr Baedeker who, despite suffering from a diseased lung and severe curvature of the spine, travelled thousands of miles across Siberia at the end of the nineteenth century to preach the Gospel to Russian prisoners living in desperate poverty. One of the characteristics of true believers is that they want to please the Lord by serving Him in a vigorous way.
