neutral Maria-Jose Pastor : Kindergarten is the first year of Elementary School. Elementary is K-5 or K-6, depending on the school district.

Thanks! Is the 'middle/junior high' part Ok? The first description (breaks down K from Elementary) came from Florida. The second from the Spanish Ministry of Education.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Gracias, Pepe (y Katherine). Manuel "

FYI

Technically, if it's middle school, it's grades 6-8, and junior high is 7-9.
Most schools nowadays have middle schools, with high school beginning at grade 9.

Although with time the distinction is disappearing.
