Quisiera saber cómo traducir este término, incluido en un texto sobre cómo recolectar la muestra de orina. Aparentemente es un recipiente o algo similar donde se orina para luego pasarlo a OTRO recipiente:
Pass a small amount of urine into the toilet, then collect urine in the male jug or female pilgrim hat.
Transfer the urine into the labelled urine container with the blue cap and secure the lid tightly.

en el caso de los hombres, el recipiente para recolectar la orina se denomina "orinal" y en las mujeres se llama "cómodo". Por razones practicas y obvias tienen una forma levemente diferente.

Creo que no existe un equivalente en español, y de hecho en inglés no parece ser muy común. Yo lo traduciría como:
male jug = recipiente para hombres
female pilgrim hat = recipiente para mujeres

Some patients are asked to collect more than one consecutive 24-hour urine sample. If that is the case, you should complete the first collection as instructed. Then, begin the second collection by adding any urine made in the next 24-hours to the second bottle. You should not discard any urine when starting the second or any subsequent collections. Simply change bottles at the stop and start times after adding that last sample required to complete the previous collection.

yo optaría por especificarlo. un orinal en principio es cualquier recipiente para la recepción (valga la rebuznancia)de orina, por lo que pueden ser de distintintos tipos. puesto que el original marca la diferencia, yo la mantendría en la traducción, aunque lo de orinales para hombres rechine un poco. suerte, angelote
