Según mi experiencia y las correcciones de médicos que he recibido, en la Argentina se emplea "sangría" y no "sangrado" para este término. Navarro también da como opción "tiempo de hemorragia".

A template bleeding time is measured by making a controlled incision, just big enough to cause bleeding, and measuring how long it takes for the bleeding to stop. In Spanish, it's just "tiempo de sangrado".
In the paper's context, the important thing is making sure all cuts equal so that bleeding times can be meaningfully compared. I think 'template' is used in a more figurative sense there.
