Estuve mirando varias opciones. "Desbastar" tambien puede ser, pero aquí me suena mas a "decapar" refiriendose a la superficie antes de el pegamento. Con "sanding" se refiere al proceso de lijado, sin duda las superficies (previo a pegar algo, restaurar, pintar, etc) deben limpiarse, se lijan, se decapan (caso de los muebles a barnizar por ejemplo) espero que esto sea la punta de algo, para que mas colegas opinen o que esto ayude a encontrar lo correcto. So far, es la opción que yo uitlizaría. Pongo nivel de confidence "medium", porque aquí faltan los expertos en el área. Saludos !!!!

3. Application of FRP Panels
3.1 Measure and pre-fit FRP panels to the wall before applying adhesive.
3.2 Ensure that wall surface is clean and free of dust or bond-breaking substances before applying adhesive.
3.3 Uncoated gypsum wallboard and other porous surfaces should be primed with a skimcoat of adhesive.
3.4 Spread the adhesive evenly over the wall or the entire back of the panel using a 3/32" x 3/32" x 3/32" (2,5 x 2,5 x 2,5 mm) V-notch trowel held at a 45° angle.
3.5 Depending on temperature, humidity and surface porosity, wait 5 to 20 minutes before attaching the panel to the substrate. Some product backings may require “cleaning, sanding or roughing up” to improve the mechanical bond. Perform a test bond before application.
3.6 Roll the entire surface with a heavy-duty extension hand roller to expel air and ensure proper bond. Press firmly with the roller, working from the center to the outer edges.
3.7 Temporary bracing may be necessary if wall panels are not straight.
