In Spanish I would just say "comer" or "saborear" or a similar mild and educated expression :-) Now, if we are talking about a dogs' restaurant, the most indicated term would be different, of course.:-)

"to eat something, usually quickly or without good manners" is the definition in English, if you want that one.

Didn't get to read the previous posts. My suggestions might sound strange if applied to dogs, but again it would depend on the tone or register you are looking for.
