English term

wrap drive

English to Spanish Other Construction / Civil Engineering
In a document about safety when working near industrial conveyors, appears the following title: "Wrap drives and emergency stop cords".

I, more or less, understand what a "wrap drive" is, since I found a convincing definition in a specialized dictionary: transmisión en la que el cable abraza dos veces la polea matriz, but I don't know if there is a synthetic translation for this term.

Thank you!

Access to sites I accessed both sites by searching Google for 'conveyer belt manufacturers' and then finding these sites to click on, where I searched 'wrap drives'. Hope this helps, as both are very informative sites on your topic.

Thanks for all the info... Unfortunately, I cannot access the links you have provided to me (company-forbidden) but I will do at home to search a plausible translation. I'll keep you informed!

Richard Boulter Oct 27, 2008:
Barrel-roller belt drive As opposed to chain-drives or pulley (simi-wrap) drives, this term in context must refer to a situation where the conveyer belt goes nearly all the way around the drive-roller, rising to go around another set high for additional traction and drive power. Both rollers are under power from the motor to drive the belt.

My suggested term seems more-likely in your context, rather than the one that's described in my Discussion entry above. That website, too, contains descriptions in English of many types of system, for your reference. I show it also herein.
