Cuidado! - La frase fuente se refiere a dos términos distintos, ambos con 'pan' en inglés:

" ... shots that were as wide as possible ..." (i.e. panoramic shots, where the camera is static) --> vistas panorámicas

Tienes plena razón: en el mundo del cine se usa "paneo", pero no lo acepta la RAE.
