A Motion for Continuance is a motion asking the judge to continue the proceedings of a case at a later date. According to the law in Texas, a Motion of Continuance may be granted by the court if the requesting party is able to satisfy the court of knowledge of some unanticipated occurrence that is likely to change the outcome of the trial. A Motion of Continuance is usually requested to give the requesting party ample time to prepare for the case or for new findings in the case.
