To qualify for Caregiving Days, an eligible employee must be regularly supporting a qualified dependant of any age that requires direct supervision by the employee resulting from school, daycare, and eldercare facility closures or a lack of in-home care availability.
A qualified dependant includes the employee’s child, parent, spouse, or domestic partner, or other person as provided by applicable law.
Full-time employees are eligible for up to ten (10) scheduled work days off with pay prior to 12/31/2020 for caregiving.
Part-time employees will generally be eligible to receive a number of Caregiving Days equal to the allotment for full-time employees, prorated over a five-day work week, rounded to the nearest whole day.
Unused Caregiving Days do not carry over into the following calendar year and are not paid upon termination of employment.
An employee must request and receive his or her supervisor’s approval to take a Caregiving Day and provide adequate notice of the request for time off.
