1.1.2 Low Pressure Turbine Casing
The LP casing is double-flow, double shell design. The outer and inner casings are of welded
design. Steam from the IP turbine and LP steam is introduced through the cross-over
pipelines into the LP inlet equipped with an expansion joint and into the circular duct in the
inner LP casing. The walls of the outer LP casing form a rectangular exhaust hood. The LP
casing lower half is welded on to the exhaust neck. The exhaust steam is passed into the
water cooled, spring supported condenser. Welded brackets are on the periphery of the outer
casing by which the casing is set up on the foundation.
The exhaust space is equipped with a spray cooling system. The spray cooling is used when
the quantity of steam passing through the rear part is low and the associated ventilation
losses of the blades increase the temperature to about 90°C (e.g. during low load or no load
operations).
The extraction branches for 1st district heater are situated in the lower half the inner turbine
casing and they are led out by 4 pipelines at the both sides through the condenser neck to
the district heater.
