В современных системах впрыска топлива, применяется несколько датчиков кислорода. Дополнительные датчики, установленные после каталитического нейтрализатора, служат не только для контроля состояния катализатора и основных датчиков кислорода, но и для топливной коррекции топливо-воздушной смеси.

В некоторых OBD-II автомобилях задний (тыльный) датчик кислорода (B1S2, см. рис. 2.3) используется также и для топливной коррекции (балансировки) состава топливо-воздушной смеси.
