English term

abnormal heel level

English to Russian Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Two 1.3 liter European evaporative emission control canisters were received from Vital Avtotor for EPA Butane Working Capacity (BWC) evaluation. One canister, manufactured by Vital, was unused and reported to contain Norit CNR 115. The second canister, manufactured by Mahle, had been removed from an in-use vehicle and was to be tested for residual capacity. It was reported to contain WV-A 1100 (8x35), and Vital Avtotor had indicated that the residual EPA BWC was low. On their receipt, it was noted that the in-use canister weighed 85 grams more than the new canister. When this difference in weight was combined with the difference in density between WV-A 1100 (270 g/l) and Norit CNR 115 (350 g/l), the real weight differential was ~190 grams. This was an abnormal heel level for 1.3 liters of WV-A 1100 and was indicative of an issue with purge or contamination with either liquid gasoline and/or water.

Peer comment(s):
