Genitography is the radiography of the urogenital sinus and internal duct structures after injection of a contrast medium through the opening of the sinus.

A transvaginal approach is used to complement the transabdominal examination in sexually active adolescents. In the patient with a complex congenital anomaly, genitography performed with water-soluble contrast material along with ultrasound examination is frequently helpful in identifying and characterizing the vagina, urogenital sinus, or cloaca.
