After the reciprocating compressor has been operating under load for a minimum of 24 hours, the rod drop monitor needs to have the zero position adjusted. Ensure that any trips connected to the 3500 monitor are bypassed. Connect the 3500-configuration software to the 3500 monitor. Upload the current configuration; go to the 3500/72M options screen, select rod drop options. Note current gap voltage and current zero position. Select (click) the adjust button to adjust the zero position. This will adjust the Zero Position and the Full Scale Ranges (FSR) in the monitor to account for thermal growth of the reciprocating compressor components.
