To cut a long story short Value Engineering is a nice name for a nasty practice. The Chinese use it a lot. Reduce production costs and material quality! All the benefits for the manufacturer and rarely any for the customer. Value engineered products are all around us! Things that break after a few uses. Things that look good but dont work! Unfortunately the GRANDIOSE term "value engineering" is an excuse for producing short life-cycle products with little or no regard for GENUINE sustainability. MY RANT FOR THE DAY - OVER!
