English term

Click

English to Italian Tech/Engineering
Again, I've noticed lots of translations: fate click, fare clic, cliccare, premere, pulsare. Which one would be preferred, which one may be incorrect?

Thank you in advance!

fare clic

"Cliccare" is used very often in spoken Italian, but in written documents the best term is "fare clic".
All other terms are wrong in this context.

Premere

Premere is IMHO the best translation.
Pulsare is absolutely wrong.

disagree Sofia Sodini : MS terminology is "fare clic", NOT "clicccare". See the Italian MS Style Guide (http://www.microsoft.com/Language/it-it/StyleGuides.aspx)

cliccare

"Cliccare" is widely used at present, (although it only applies to icons, mouse and the like)
"Premere" can be used as well, but it has a wider meaning.
Young italians always use "cliccare", and at present it has to be considered as standard italian.
"Pulsare" is wrong in this context, it being nearer to "beat". You can say, e.g., "Il cuore pulsa" = "The heart beats"

Hope that helps.

fare clic o cliccare
