I have to admit I am totally clueless here - I don't even know Italian. Still, I need a catchy Italian phrase for the English "live in the moment", or "one step at a time". Would living momento per momento be a good way to put it? Grazie mille.

Comment: "I am really not in a position to reflect upon the merits of each particular translation, but rhythmically this fits my sentence best, so that's what I am going to use. Many thanks."

In a poetry context that sounds good to me, like a "Carpe diem" thought

Soory, in Engllish. Live in the moment is frequently used in English with lifestyle connotations, see the lifestyle guru in my web ref. If you mean it in this sense of being in control of your life rather than the carpe diem (eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die) sense, then there are lots of Italian ghits for "vivere nel momento".
