Once Through Cooling

English to Italian Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Once Through Cooling
Receives water from a river, bay, lake, or ocean for one pass through heat exchangers where heat is removed from the system and transferred back to the river, bay, lake or ocean.

Su archivionucleare.com ho trovato il seguente testo:

As methods for the cooling of the plant condenser, a choice exists between the practically total dissipation of the heat into particularly receptive water bodies (once through cooling), and dissipation largely into the atmosphere (wet towers).

Le wet towers sono le torri di raffreddamento a umido (o per evaporazione.

Ho trovato once through spesso lasciato non tradotto. TIA!

In a once-through cooling system, water is withdrawn directly from the source waterbody, diverted through a condenser where it absorbs heat from the boiler steam, and then discharged back into the source waterbody at elevated temperatures. Because once-through cooling systems do not re-circulate the cooling water, they can require as much as a billion gallons of water per day.
Once-through cooling is used roughly 52% of power plants in the United States.
