English term

competence standards and sub-standards

English to Greek Other Education / Pedagogy Employment
In the world practice knowledge testing is considered a specific contemporary form for assessing the quality of knowledge. Testing is usually defined as ‘measuring knowledge and/or intelligence of a single individual or a group of people’. It is a traditional method, which has been practised for a long time within the system of formal education and may be carried out with different types of tests such as written questionnaires, multiple-choice questions, interviews and the like. For the purposes of the ValidAid+ project, knowledge testing is viewed as a short and technically simple form of examination, which puts all test takers under similar conditions and contains questions, the answers to which can be quickly receive a quantitative assessment. The usefulness of the method however is limited, as it cannot adequately measure abilities and attitudes. Due to the fact that the focus of the ValidAid+ project is recognising the participants’ ability to manage their work tasks, for the purposes of the project the testing method is proposed to be used as a tool for validating only knowledge-related competence standards and sub-standards.
