I looked at clothes of mine from different manufacturers.
Result:

A) Not one of them has Style/Stil or whatever else on it.
B) All in English. Nobody bothers with German here.
C) Some cut it up into small pieces: different numbers for cut / season / etc.

I can check some more later. Maybe you'll find it quicker on your clothes :)

The rainy season is over, unfortunately because we need more rain. Now we get into the dry season until September. Headaches, noses bleeding, coughing...

@Mario I understand you. Most people refrain from it, some don't. Guess it's a matter of style (pardon the pun). However, I do not have any objections if the second answer provides clear-cut references and/or explanations, which it does not in this case.

The English link is fine. But the German proof is either a Google search (never recommended and I looked at it, Danik, the search criteria don't match the results) or a non-genuine translation (If you read through the second suggestion, you'll see that the link given is a disgrace to any speaker of German. It even says it was automatically translated.)

No valid examples up till now, sorry. Besides, the style number can also be called style code. It's not only numbers, but it may also be letters.

Style does not equate Stil in all cases. Unless the discussion is joined by someone who just recently bought clothing off the internet and is able to track the shipment, I don't see Susan having much luck on the forum this time.

I have honestly never seen this number anywhere, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough and I am no retailer.

All the links you'll find about Stilnummer as such are bad translations. Really bad ones, like you wouldn't believe.

STILNUMMER: In der Paketverfolgung gibt es nur Nummern, ans Zahlen geht es meist erst nach Erhalt. Neben dieser Eigentümlichkeit stachen mir bei Stil Nr./Stil Zahl auch die fehlenden Bindestriche hervor und überhaupt fehlte jegliche Zuordnung - wenn das Original nicht abgekürzt ist - STYLE NUMBER - warum dann eine abgekürzte Nummer und Zahl plus Bindestrichunterlassung in der Zielsprache?
