Kommt darauf an - primär wäre es auf einem Röntgenfilm die Schwärzung. Grauwerte oder Graustufen werden bei digitalen Röntgentechniken (z.B. Computertomographie) daraus berechnet. Für ein CT ginge "Grauwert" also, für ein Röntgenbild ist wohl "Schwärzung" vorzuziehen.
