Can't give you the German, but ...
An air break, mostly known as an air gap in the USA, is used for dishwashers to feed the wastewater into the outlet drain. The air gap is a break in the pipe from the dishwasher that prevents wastewater from being suctioned back INTO (i.e., siphoned back) the dishwasher.
