This is a care facility, selling and begging is not welcome.

English to German Medical Idioms / Maxims / Sayings sign/mentally challenged people
I have been asked to write this sentence in as many languages as possible. The facility (for mentally challenged people) in question has problems with people selling and begging, and these people come from many countries in Europe, so they would like to put a sign on the front door with this text in as many languages as possible. The facility is located in Finland.
It should be nicely phrased, and the translation can be free and idiomatic; the point is that there is no idea to sell and beg at this house, since the people that live there are retarded, and have no money.

Apology accepted! :) I just wanted to point out that the English version is only an intermediate version; as I wrote, it's easier to find translators from English into different languages, than from Swedish. That is why I translated it into English before posting on KudoZ. And I do not argue with you; you are a native speaker, and of course your English is better than mine. I also want to thank you for pointing out these mistakes in the English version (obviously I cannot trust my proofreader), since English will also appear on the sign.

Petter, I apologise for using the word "disaster" - it was not my intention to offend and I assumed that the English version was already in use at the care home, not that it had been written by you. I accept that the meaning remains clear in your version, but I stand by both the points I raised - (a) the comma is incorrect (e.g. The Oxford Manual of Style says "A common error is to us a comma to join two unrelated main clauses ... this produces a 'comma splice' or 'run-on sentence'. This fault can be corrected by adding a coordinating conjunction or by replacing the comma with a semicolon or colon.") and (b) the verb needs to be plural, since selling and begging are two separate things.

Original disaster. I am sorry! English is not my first language. However, I don't think it makes it more difficult to understand what I mean. And "disaster" is perhaps a bit too exaggerated... The very original sentence is in Swedish, and the English version was created by me when I posted this on KudoZ in different languages (it's easier to find translators from English). On the other hand, I can inform you that another native speaker has proofread my English version, and he said it was fine. So, who is right?

The original ... is a grammatical disaster. The comma needs to be replaced by a colon, semicolon or hypen, and the verb needs to be plural, since "selling and begging" are two separate things. So they need to say "This is a care facility - selling and begging are not welcome."

day-care facility for children is a "Kinder-Tagesbetreuung"
"betreutes Wohnen" is assissted living/accomodation
"Senioren-Betreuung" does not sounds adequatly enough. The remaining terms are: "Wohnheim" (residential home/accomodation) and "Pflegeheim" (residential care home).

Home vs. something else In Swedish this facility is called "home", because it is the only home these people have.

Pflegeheim oder ... man könnte auch den Begriff 'Pflegeeinrichtung' wählen. Er ist offener und umfassender als der Begriff 'Pflegeheim'.

ein schild auf dem folgenden steht hat meistens geholfen..

Betreten des Grundstückes verboten, Betteln und Hausieren unerwünscht.
Bei Zuwiderhandlung wird ohne Warnung von der Waffe gebrauch gemacht.

..soll schon einiges abgewehrt haben und ich mach mich damit ja nicht strafbar.
wenn es um die definition von waffe geht, dann ist sogar meine hand eine tödliche, sollte ich entsprechenden unterricht in einer kampfsportart erteilt bekommen haben.

In einem vornehmen Münchener Stadtteil ist mir ein Haus bekannt, an dessen Eingangstüre dieser Hinweis zu lesen ist. Was die Bewohner dieses Hauses mit „missionieren“ verbinden, ist damit klar und eindeutig ausgedrückt: Missionieren wird nicht nur als unnötig eingestuft, sondern direkt als lästig empfunden und strikt abgelehnt. Sicher, wenn zwei Zeugen Jehovas vor der Türe stehen, mag man das als unangenehm empfinden. Oft genug bekommt man bei solcherart „Missionaren“ den Eindruck, sie gehen buchstäblich mit ihrer Überzeugung „hausieren“ und wollen einem hartnäckig etwas aufschwatzen, was man gar nicht haben will.

Dieses Schild (nur ohne Fragezeichen) kennen wir alle von Gartentoren oder Haustoren. Man möchte sich gegen unerwünschte Besucher abschirmen.

"Unerwünscht" has not the meaning of "Verboten" and is more polite. You can do it, but you will be regarded as impertinent.
