English term

hunt sequence

English to French Tech/Engineering Telecom(munications)
You can configure one or more hunt groups. Each hunt group must include a minimum of two lines. If a number is already being used in one hunt group, it will not be available in another.

Important: avoid including lines dedicated for fax, credit card, alarm or ATM machine in a hunt group.

Optimum Voice offers three methods of hunting – Linear, Circular, and Uniform Distribution.

Linear: This is the default setting. Calls will be routed to the first idle line in sequential order, starting with the first line in the group to the last line in the group. You can specify the line sequence in the HUNT SEQUENCE box on the Hunt Group feature page.

Circular: This option is available for customers to self configure through the Optimum Business Account Center after Optimum Voice is installed. This option varies the starting point for the hunt group and allows for an even distribution of calls within the group. Calls are routed to the first idle line, starting with the line after the one that last handled a call. The hunt will then follow the sequence as indicated in the Hunt Sequence box on the Hunt Group feature page.
Uniform Distribution: The call will be routed to the first available line in the group that has been idle the longest.
You also have the option to change the Advance Timer. This is the number of rings before the call is routed to the next line in the hunt group.
