We can all sympathize there! Which one of us hasn't suffered from the dubious quality of original texts? ;-))
Céline Débiton (asker) Nov 6, 2006:
ooops, yes sorry !! I had so much troubles with this text : missing commas, sentences that didn't make any sense...
Tony M Nov 6, 2006:
Your parsing is wrong, it should be "quick turnaround" + "lift-outs"

sorti brièvement de l'eau

quick turnaround = rotation rapide
lift out = sortir de l'eau

... ont besoin d'être sorti brièvement de l'eau (en toute sécurité)...

Tony: looking at the context, I feel that the emphasis should be on 'quick turnaround', the fact that they can lift you out of the water and put you back in in a short space of time, it seems to me that 'grutage rapide' implies that the crane is quick or that the boat can be taken out in an emergency, which of course may be the case... I agree 'sortir de l'eau' does not indicate the method used for taking the boat out of the water, but as I said before, I think the most important message is 'quick turnaround'.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : 'sortir de l'eau' doesn't necessarily mean JUST lift-outs / I agree with your reasoning, EXCEPT that craning is often used specifically for speed; quicker than haul-out for many types of boat...

true, my note is too long for this space, see above// indeed, I also think that we are talking about a boat lift and not a crane ;-)
