English term

amount of pavement

English to French Tech/Engineering Patents Integrated paving system
During transport, however, thermal loss and mechanical segregation may occur, which, in turn, adversely affects the quality of the pavement.

Advantageously a plurality of the portable paving mix containers may be placed on a paving surface at spaced intervals, wherein the spaced intervals are dimensioned according to an amount of pavement formed by the paving mix of the portable paving mix containers. Advantageously, in a preferred arrangement, the spaced intervals may be dimensioned to precisely correspond to an amount pavement formed by the paving mix of the portable paving mix containers.

Discussion

Tony M May 14, 2015:
@ Abel Ah NOW I see where you're coming from! But it is the containers that are being set down at spaced intervals, not the actual paving slabs.
HERBET Abel May 14, 2015:
@ Ghislaine:spaced intervals are generally in mortar.

"wherein the spaced intervals are dimensioned according to an amount of pavement formed by the paving mix
HERBET Abel May 14, 2015:
@ Tony about "Paving mix"
Pavements in natural stone have not the same size nor the same colors.
This added to joints spaces you have a pavement square meter which can vary quite a lot.
Ghyslaine LE NAGARD May 14, 2015:
Haven't read any answer related to jointing mortar !
Tony M May 14, 2015:
@ Asker Please could you clarify what this 'paving mix' is actually for? Some people seem to be assumùing it is some kind of jointing mortar, whereas I had imagined it as some kind of pourable surfacing? I think this is going to make an enormous difference to the translation solution required here.

agree Tony M : Well, assuming it IS indeed talking about asphalt paving; perhaps more generally 'revêtement'?

thanks!
agree Daryo : pretty obvious from the context: each portable paving mix container contains the volume of asphalt/paving mix necessary to cover the road up to the starting point of the section to be covered in asphalt from the next portable paving mix container.

"volume" ou "quantité" de "pavés" ou "pavages"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : I suspect Asker's real problem is with the term 'pavement' in this specific technical context.

Plus les joints entre les pavés est large et moins il y a de pavés au m²
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : This seems to be some kind of 'mix', so probably not individual paviors.
