Hi! "intim�" ne conviendrait pour "defendant" QUE s'il s'agit d'une affaire de divorce ou d'un appel - sinon, les termes corrects en France sont:
"d�fenseur/d�fenderesse"(et non pas "d�fendeur"!)
ou "le pr�venu"
ou encore "l'accus�"

it is a civil judgment so what becomes "intim�" in this case?

If you have read my answer to your previous question, then you know that it should be "intim�" as a generic term but unless you give us more specificatin on what you are translating ...

if defendant was referring to the lawyer then it will be the défendeur, but here defendant is synomym to respondent
