@Virginie Common sense often helps, but if we had to count billions of bacterias, cells or such items, or a mathematical discussion with no physical equivalent, the issue is that a billion is not always a milliard, that is why I think with Germaine that using k, M, G and T should be much better

Madeleine, Les libertés que prennent les gens avec les abréviations nous obligent souvent à retourner aux sources pour vérifier ce qu'on veut dire, mais ce mm = millions est assez courant. En fait, mille = k, million = G et mille millions = T, mais dans un rapport de gestion, vous allez souvent lire M pour mille et MM pour millions.

Yes, but the author takes liberties with abbreviations among others... mm est un symbole, qui signifie :

Millimètre, une unité SI de longueur qui vaut 10-3 mètre

il faut donc penser que la première solution est la bonne, avec un typo sur le source - à un facteur de un million près.
