Daphnée, I freely admit that I'm not a FR natice speaker, nor do I have specialist knowledge of the terminology in FR here.
However, in case it helps you in deciphering this, and maybe coming up with a more authoritative solution, the above is my very literal rendition of what I understand it to mean.
Your rather skimpy context is not very clear, but I believe the 'trace' referred to here is something along the lines of a printed circuit conductor, or the µ- or nano-electronic equivalent, in which case, I believe 'piste' may be the right term to use (usually used to translate a 'track' on a PCB, of course)
