PC memory is made up of millions of tiny switches that contain an electrical current.They are refreshed by electricity thousands of times a second.When a switch stops holding the current or it leaks out between refreshes, a memory error can occur.This can cause a program to crash or the whole system to lock up, requiring a restart.This situation will reoccur whenever the memory fails.

It is completely inaccurate to say 'stops holding the current', since by nature, it is not 'current' but 'charge' that is being held here.
In order for it to not be as much technical nonsense in FR as in EN, I really think at this point you have no choice but to 'correct' the original expression by using 'charge'
