In the fictional Star Wars universe, the Jedi mind trick is a Force power. Jedi who know the power can, by using the Force, influence the actions of other "weak-minded" sentient beings.

Jedi typically perform this ability with a wave of the hand and a verbal suggestion (for example, "These aren't the droids you're looking for"). If the trick is successful, the victim will reply by restating the suggestion ("These aren't the droids we're looking for") and will immediately think or do whatever the Jedi suggested. The hand wave may not be required to use the power; in the films, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn both perform the wave first when using the trick, as does Luke Skywalker.

Some residents of the Star Wars galaxy can resist the ability. Species who can resist include Hutts and Toydarians, as demonstrated in Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, respectively. However, while Qui-Gon Jinn states this is because "greed is a strong enemy against the Force," (Jabba was a crime boss and Watto was a scheming junk dealer) the precise reason is unknown. Especially strong-willed individuals are also able to resist the ability. Anakin Skywalker confirms this in a conversation with Padmé Amidala during Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, after she jokingly asks him if he will use the trick on her. Droids are also immune to mind tricks, because these tricks only affect beings with organic brains.

In the novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader by James Luceno, the ability is referred to as Force persuasion. While the power is never called the "mind trick" by Jedi — or even named by any Jedi, the term "mind trick" is often used to refer to it by those who are aware of its existence, often disparagingly. The first use of the term was in Return of the Jedi, when Jabba the Hutt criticizes an underling for his susceptibility to "an old Jedi mind trick." The term is used in many of the Star Wars-related games in which the ability appears. When Obi-Wan Kenobi famously demonstrates the ability for the first time in the films, he states afterwards only that, "The Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded. You will find it a powerful ally."

Dans la traduction du film, lorsque Luke essaye d'influencer Jabba the Hutt, par l'intermédiaire du serviteur de Jabba à qui il fait dire à son maître : "Permettez-lui de vous parler."
Jabba répond à son serviteur :
"Espèce d'imbécile !"
"Il utilise une vieille ruse Jedi."
Ceci est la traduction française officielle du film (en version DVD) pour la phrase anglaise (du même DVD) "... Jedi mind trick ..."
Il est à noter que les points de suspension entourant l'expression "Jedi mind trick" correspondent non pas à de l'anglais, mais à la langue extra-terrestre de Jabba dans laquelle l'expression anglaise "Jedi mind trick" a été insérée, et traduite en français par "vieille ruse Jedi".

Tout dépend du contexte, Yogen.
Si ton texte fait référence au "Jedi mind trick" de façon péjorative, ou humouristique, ou au passage en question, avec Jabba. Ce que le mot "trick" laisserait supposer.
Ou bien s'il s'agit de mentionner le pouvoir Jedi en général, auquel cas on comprend mal la présence du mot "trick", le mot power aurait été plus approprié. Par exemple "Pouvoirs mentaux des Jedi".
Je déconseillerais "Pouvoirs mentaux Jedi", construction lourde et disgracieuse avec deux adjectifs successifs pour le même nom.
Et lui préférerais "Pouvoirs mentaux des Jedi", ou "Pouvoir mental des Jedi".
Attention au janotisme "Pouvoir de l'esprit Jedi"... donnant lieu à un équivoque.
Est-ce "l'esprit", ou "le pouvoir de l'esprit", qui est Jedi ?

Hello Yogen. L'article fait références à plusieurs usages différents de l'expression "Jedi mind trick", pas seulement humouristique et péjoratif (comme dans le cas de Jabba).
Pour savoir exactement quelle traduction précise convient, il faudrait la phrase entière, voire, avec quelques lignes autour pour avoir le contexte. La nature du gag ou du trait d'esprit dans la phrase peut faire varier la traduction, suivant la nuance.
"La vieille ruse Jedi du contrôle mental"
"La bonne vieille ruse Jedi"
"Le bon vieux truc Jedi du contrôle mental"
"Le contrôle mental à la Jedi"
"Le truc télépathique Jedi"
"Le truc mental des Jedi"
"Le bon vieux truc des Jedi"
"Le bon vieux truc Jedi"
... et suivant la phrase, peut-être d'autres options
