a. When present, these fields may only contain the coded values listed in the data dictionary (values "N", "T", or "U").

If present, a Truncation_Code has to have one of the following values:
T: Field content truncated
N: Field content not truncated
U: It is unknown whether or not the field content is truncated. This value is used when transitioning from the name format described in "APPENDIX E.1 Ŕ AAMVA PERSON NAME FORMATTING RULES".

The following formatting rules apply to the First_Name, Last_Name and Middle_Name(s) fields:
a. Any of the AAMVA Printable Characters may be used in the name. Characters which are not listed as Printable Characters, are transliterated to a printable character. See the Printable Character section for more details.
b. Uppercase, lowercase and mixed cases are allowed. For example, the First_Name fields "John", "JOHN" or "john" are all valid and have the same meaning.
c. Trailing spaces are allowed but have no meaning. A trailing character is the character that appears at the rightmost position in a field.
d. Leading spaces are not allowed. A leading character is the character that appears at the leftmost position in a field.
e. Except for trailing spaces, a space character may not appear adjacent to another space character.
f. Names in non-Latin characters are not supported.
g. Unsupported Latin characters are transliterated as specified in the Transliteration section below.
