Discussion

Tony M Dec 8, 2014:
Very few Google hits for this source term — and most of them seem to come from one particular make of cars, seemingly in India.

So I think we can safely assume this is a quirky term, which begs the question of whether or not to over-interpret it to something that would appear less quirky in the target language..?

système de guidage en marche arrière

Just guessing — but it ought to help you research it at least.

More commonly, we have 'radar de recul' — but I don't know if what you have is the same thing?

Seems I can't add any new response to Tony's comment in the dedicated area, and I have already used the maximum number of characters. I agree Tony, it may have a special meaning indeed... Thank you for pointing out it is not the common term in English. I guess more context/details would make things a bit clearer.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : But a vehicle might be reversing for reasons other than just parking. So this is too restrictive. / This isn't the common term in EN either, suggesting it may have a special meaning; it specifically does NOT mention anything about parking either.

It is true Tony, I won't say French car makers and car specialists chose the best term... but as the asker is looking for the equivalent used in French, I give the term which is by far mostly used (at least in written language) by car professionals :-)..
